Weekly Meals – Sept. 6 – 10, 2021

The past few weeks have been incredibly rough, battling depression and tough times. My appetite and motivation to eat fluctuate and go to extremes of not eating to overeating and binging — there is no in between.

It takes one day at a time, and this week, I was able to successfully do the following:

  • work out every day
  • cook meals every night, avoiding spending money on fast food
  • make dinners without red meat (except my two slices of ham every morning with my avocado toast)

Hopefully this week’s wins are the start of good, positive habits. Anyway, here are the things I cooked this week, and yes, I am now horrid TikTok trash and got most of these recipes from videos – minus the salmon, avocado, rice, which I’ve already started making on my own.

  • Vietnamese spring rolls
  • Crispy tofu
  • Snack item: vegan chocolate ice cream with fresh sliced strawberries
  • Salmon, avocado, rice
  • Rice paper tofu dumplings
    • What I learned: I made these once with two wrappings, like the recipe said, but tried to do it with one wrapping this time. The paper breaks on the pan, so do wrap it twice!
  • Impromptu lunch: Egg-Kewpie mayo ramen
  • Treat for myself: sushi dinner from Ginza in Galleria

That all said, I noticed I coincidentally planned these meals without meat, and then next week is all meat… I don’t know what that means but it’s a little funny.

So, what recipes are y’all trying out? What dishes did TikTok make you do? 🙂

Writing

Detrimental Decibels

I caused ruckus in your life,
you shattered my world,
and we created many storms together.
Just two passionate people
who wanted to scream from
skyscrapers and mountaintops
how much we cared about each other–
even if the words shouted
surpassed the highest peak
of sound and stratosphere.
They ultimately pierced us in the heart,
causing pain and heartache.
It was crazy,
but we were crazy in love.

Cosplay

Reki Cosplay

It’s been almost a year, but I did a photoshoot of my next cosplay! This year a new anime came out, and I fell completely in love with it — SK8 The Infinity.

The character I’m cosplay in the photos below is Reki Kyan (red head on the left)! I used to have a skateboard when I was younger, but unfortunately didn’t have one to pose with. We did shoot at one of Houston’s local skate parks, and I could have asked one of the bros there to borrow their boards but nahhhhhhh.

New voice acting role!

(We’re going to ignore that I’ve been absent since February – I blame that crazy winter storm Texas went through!)

In the last year, I was lending my voice for the Davenporte SIMS series as villainess, Rhonda, and then… some things happen (no spoilers!) and that role ended. If you wanna catch up on what happens in Season 1, you can watch all the episodes in one video on YouTube!

SO! What’s the new voice acting role? The creator of Davenporte reached out to me to voice another character for Season 2! I’m excited for this gig and can’t wait to see how she impacts the stories and characters.

Some other exciting news about the series is it’s been nominated eight times for the TYSPE Awards! Voice acting is one of my secret passions I don’t usually talk to people about, so I’m incredibly honored to be part of this project, and it makes me happy the creator remembered me from eons ago for my first gig with him.

Thanks to those who have watched Davenporte and supported the series thus far. Stay tuned for Season 2!

Completing the Blogilates 21 Day Tone Challenge | Progress Pics

This post is long overdue, but better late than never! At the start of 2021, and for the month of January, my sister and I completed the Blogilates 21-Day Tone Challenge with Cassey Ho. Normally, I’m pretty active with a routine workout schedule but I know my sister has been struggling with maintaining one since the pandemic hit, so I suggested we do this challenge together virtually.

Disclaimer: Yes, I am naturally thin. I am aware and have never complained about my weight or the way my body looks. That said, I have been active and eating healthy for YEARS and maintained my fitness. Plus, there are plethora other reasons to eat healthy and work out regularly in addition to weight loss and vanity.

Every day for the 21 days, we video chatted each other, and we did the day’s video together, each one focusing on a different area of the body. Admittedly, even as fit as I am, some of these videos were challenging, but it honestly felt great to feel the sweat dripping onto my workout mat and the burn in the muscle areas. The best part? Knowing that you put in the work to take care of yourself is incredibly rewarding.
