Detrimental Decibels

I caused ruckus in your life,
you shattered my world,
and we created many storms together.
Just two passionate people
who wanted to scream from
skyscrapers and mountaintops
how much we cared about each other–
even if the words shouted
surpassed the highest peak
of sound and stratosphere.
They ultimately pierced us in the heart,
causing pain and heartache.
It was crazy,
but we were crazy in love.

“Saudade” Turns Three

Whoops! My brain goes a million miles an hour that it completely slipped my mind that my first published book, Saudade, turns three years old today.

Edit: It occurred to me I cannot math. I thought it was four years, but it’s been three since the book’s official publish date.

WOW. Three. Years. Old. It’s been that long already.

Saudade holds a special place in my heart. In essence, the book is about mental health – riding the scary and unpredictable rollercoaster of anxiety and depression. The truth behind the words was born from years and years of my experiences navigating through a dark place but eventually finding light in the end.

Major Lessons Learned for Self-Publishing (so far…)

This Fall I spontaneously decided to publish a book of poetry. I’m currently on the self-publishing route at the moment—that way I only have to rely on myself to make things happen and not a major publishing firm to play the “years of waiting game.” I don’t claim to be an expert on publishing whatsoever, I’m literally doing this on my own and sharing my experiences!
